In 2007, Romance garnered $1.375 billion dollars in sales, compared to Religion/Inspirational -- $819 million, Science Fiction/Fantasy -- $700 million, Mystery -- $650 million, and Classic Literary fiction at $466 million.

  • Zatoichi von Ratbastard Gives Birth to Kittens! After an exhaustive labour beginning at 1:38 in the morning, our beloved Manx cat, Zatoichi (Ichi for short) gave birth to her first (and last) litter of kittens. The first born (at 1:52am) was an orange tabby male, we call Katsu. The second born (at 2:26 am) was a black and white female named Maddy Shin. And the third and final kitten, Taro von Ratbastard (female), was born at 3:58 am. All kittens and Ichi are doing well. Photos coming soon.

  • New Puppy in the Hyatt Household. After the passing of our beloved German Shepherd, Siega, we decided it was time to bring home a puppy. Our new puppy is a black German Shepherd, from a local breeder, we've named: Rogue Warrior. With Rogue's mother at 90lbs and Rogue's father at 125lbs, we expect our little guy to grow up into one big dog. Photos coming soon.

Both readers and writers alike were shocked recently, when they learned that author Cassie Edwards was accused of plagiarizing many passages from research books and papers for her various Western/Native American historical romance novels. In her defense, Edwards claimed she didn't realize she was suppose to attribute her sources in romance books.

  • Kathleen E. Woodiwiss Passes Away... I am very sad to announce that Kathleen E. Woodiwiss, one of the Grand Dames of Romance, died today. Like many authors, I cut my teeth on her novels, my all time favorites include: The Wolf and the Dove, and A Rose in Winter. I remember the first romance novel my mother purchased for me, was The Flame and the Flower, and my love affair with "bodice rippers" began. I know she will be greatly missed by all. And though she is gone, she is definitely not forgotten!
