Question: What is the "coolest" or most interesting thing that has happened to you since becoming a published author?

Shelley Mosley/Deborah Shelley: he coolest thing that’s happened to me since being published is meeting lots of other writers. I’ve never met such a bunch of creative people!

Question: What is your favorite Season to write in and why? 

Shelley Mosley/Deborah Shelley:  The sounds and smells and colors of autumn make that my favorite season, but my favorite season for writing is winter, when I can bundle up with a cup of hot tea and sit in front of the computer and dream.

Question: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

Shelley Mosley/Deborah Shelley: I would go back to Norway, sail the fjords, watch the goats on the thatch roofs, and enjoy the beauty of the country. I was there for a very brief visit, and there was so much more to see.

Question: If you could meet anyone of your characters in person, who would it be and why?

Shelley Mosley/Deborah Shelley: Danny Ricucci, the hero of Marriage 101, is a piano-playing high school coach with a great sense of humor. He has a large Italian family with some very interesting characters in it. I’d love to meet him in person.

Ask An Author Week #2: Shelley Mosley/Deborah Shelley

Question: If you could travel back in time for a month long vacation, which Era would you visit and why?

Shelley Mosley/Deborah Shelley: I would go back to Seneca Falls, New York in 1848 from July 15-August 15 so I could be at the very first Women’s Rights Convention. Hanging out with Elizabeth Cady Stanton and hearing her read the Declaration of Sentiments, wow! Getting to know Lucretia Mott and Amelia Bloomer, not to mention Frederick Douglass, would be amazing. And if I stayed a month, I could meet Susan B. Anthony, too. If it weren’t for these brave people, women wouldn’t have basic rights, like voting or owning property. They are my heroes.

Ask An Author Week #1: Shelley Mosley/Deborah Shelley

Question: If you were stranded on a desert island and could only have three books with which to read for five years, which three books would you take and why?

Shelley Mosley/Deborah Shelley: I would take a first aid manual, a book on flora and fauna of that area, and a Bible with the Apocrypha. The first two books would be for physical survival. The last for mental, emotional, psychological, and spiritual survival.
